The ‘ElektroG’ transposes the provisions of the WEEE Directive and regulates the distribution of electrical and electronic equipment on the German market as well as the collection, treatment, recovery and environmentally sound disposal of WEEE.

The ‘ElektroG’ defines the collection of the current six WEEE categories ( since 15.08.2018) listed in the WEEE Directive into six collection groups (Section 14(1) ‘ElektroG’).
Devices with built-in lithium-ion batteries are to be collected separately in pallet cages. ADR regulations apply.
